Under the name Lockhart Cattle Company, we continue our family’s legacy of raising beef in the shadow of the Tetons. Our great grandfather, Bruce Porter, started the operation we continue to run after moving to Jackson in 1914 to work as a pharmacist. His successes as a pharmacist and local businessman lead him to the cattle industry and by 1938 he put together the home ranch we run today. Many things have changed since the early days of ranching in Jackson, but the foundation of our cattle operation remains the same. We combine supreme Hereford genetics with premium grass and water and the results are solid— healthy, sustainable beef.
Our family raises Hereford seed stock; we strive to develop the highest quality Hereford genetics anywhere. We also continue a Jackson Hole tradition and raise cattle on world-class grass to sell locally. Our ranch is family-owned and operated and we take great pride in our top-quality product.
